Over on Reddit, the debates are in full flow with two main trains of thoughts leading the pack. Some believe that a Venom game is very much still in the works which will push the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 well into the future and others believe that the Venom project has already been scrapped. If that’s the case, it’s very likely that Insomniac will get to work on a third installment as soon as Marvel’s Wolverine hits the shelves.
When Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Release?
Peter Parker Playdate Predictions
With the new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day having just dropped, excitement for all things arachnid is at an all-time high. We do know that the team behind the Spider-Man franchise are feverishly working on Marvel’s Wolverine currently, but the fans are split about what they’re going to work on next. One Redditor discusses the timeline and makes an educated guess:
2028 or 2029. Spider-man 2 was 2023, Wolverine is 3 years later, so we can assume similar for Spider-man 3.
While another firmly believes that the Venom game is still going ahead, which pushes the timeline. They said:
2029 at the absolute earliest. Likely 2030.
Insomniac is shipping Wolverine this year, with possibly Venom in 2027 or 2028. Then spider man 3 would follow.
With no concrete evidence of whether the Venom game is scrapped or in development, it’s hard to say for sure when we’ll see the next installment of Marvel’s Spider-Man.
PlayStation Gamers Are Likely In For A Wait
It’s Logan’s Time Now
Both Marvel Spider-Man games and the Miles Morales games were released to stellar reviews and had a polish and level of quality rarely seen. Insomniac also followed up each game with extra content in the form of DLC, remasters and general improvements. With that in mind, it’s quite likely that Marvel’s Wolverine is going to pool their talents and their focus even after it launches later this year.
Whether Insomniac’s next game is a stand-alone Venom title or the third part of the Peter Parker saga, it doesn’t feel like it’s coming anytime soon. In the short term, that’s not great news for Spider-Man fans, but personally, I hope they don’t rush it. I want the very best to round out the trilogy, so I’m happy for them to take as long as they need. Let them cook!
Also, it’s not like we don’t have plenty of Marvel content to enjoy. Having just learned about new characters joining Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’ it looks like we’ve plenty to look forward to. Personally though, my focus this year is on a hero who’d never make it through a metal detector. Snikt, Snikt!
