The sequel adaptation of the fighting game franchise has officially broken a runtime record for the series, confirmed just one month ahead of its release. The upcoming Mortal Kombat II takes place in the aftermath of Shang Tsung’s banishment, with the Earthrealm fighters now going up against Shao Kahn with the help of newcomer Johnny Cage.
Now, according to a listing from AMC Theaters, Mortal Kombat II has a runtime of 1 hour 56 minutes. This 116-minute runtime makes it the longest movie in the Mortal Kombat series ever made. This beats out the previous record holder, 2021’s Mortal Kombat, which came in at 110 minutes. The sequel promises a slightly longer film, but an even bigger story.
