Bosch season 1 earned an 83% average on Rotten Tomatoes, but it wasn’t until season 2 that the show’s critical rating jumped to 100%. Amazingly, Bosch managed to retain that sky-high critical rating throughout the rest of its run, cementing its status as an all-time great procedural series.
What The Lincoln Lawyer Is About
As such, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that, after four seasons on Netflix, Connelly’s other TV adaptation is being called one of the streaming service’s best crime dramas. Netflix’s number one show in early February 2026, The Lincoln Lawyer is based on Connelly’s novel series that began with 2005’s The Lincoln Lawyer.
The show follows Manuel Garcia-Ruffo’s Mickey Haller, an unconventional lawyer who earned his titular nickname by operating his practice out of his town car. A recovering addict, Mickey has a lot in common with Connelly’s other famous fictional creation, Harry Bosch. Like Bosch, he is a brilliant legal mind who always prioritizes justice, but also has a messy personal life.
The Lincoln Lawyer Keeps Getting Better
While early seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer follow a fairly familiar script as Mickey redeems his tattered career by uncovering major conspiracies and bringing villains to justice, the show really comes into its own as it continues. The supporting cast of The Lincoln Lawyer ensures that the series is more than just Mickey’s story, elevating its drama.
Becki Newton, Neve Campbell, and Yaya DaCosta all make sure that The Lincoln Lawyer has compelling female characters who are more than love interests for its title character, and the complex issues that Mickey battles while getting his practice on track make for riveting drama. Meanwhile, the show’s villains are just as complex as Bosch’s best antagonists, and its twisty plotting is genuinely unpredictable.
The Lincoln Lawyer Can Last As Long As Michael Connelly’s Other Streaming Franchise
The Lincoln Lawyer’s LA location ensures that the show feels a lot like Bosch, but the Netflix series avoids one mistake that earlier hit occasionally indulged in. Unlike Bosch and the earlier legal drama The Good Fight, The Lincoln Lawyer doesn’t rip its storylines from real-life headlines.
This ensures that the show rarely feels dated or like it’s trying too hard to be relevant, which can sometimes be the kiss of death for a legal drama. As such, there is no reason to think that The Lincoln Lawyer won’t last for years to come and release many more seasons, as well as potentially even a spinoff series.
Already, viewers know that The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 will bring 2023’s Michael Connelly novel Resurrection Walk to life onscreen, and there are plenty more of the author’s novels that the show could adapt going forward. Thus, the critically acclaimed legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer could have a long future at Netflix.
