Today, April 1, Pokémon Pokopia began a crossover event with IKEA, in which a special Cloud Island has been created by members of the furniture chain’s team. The Cloud Island, called IKEA Island, can be visited in-game, and recreations of the rooms therein can also be seen put together in IKEA stores – in Japan only. The two rooms are inspired by Pikachu and Snorlax, with yellow/red and teal/white color ways, respectively, on the furniture.
Pokopia Collab Comes To IKEA Stores In Japan
IKEA’s announcement of the crossover doesn’t contain a definitive list of stores where the Pokopia rooms will be on display, but it does note that the Okayama location “is not eligible.” The in-store event will run until May 10, 2026, but the Cloud Island in Pokopia will be available until June 30. In addition to the themed rooms, there will be stamps to collect throughout IKEA, stickers included with purchases of ¥5,000 or more, a prize lottery, food decorations, and a spot to take photos.
The real-life rooms do an interesting job adapting their in-game counterparts. The Pikachu-themed one is a kids’ room, and while the yellow couch doesn’t have the Pokémon’s face and ears on it, IKEA does have some mushroom-colored stools that are surprisingly similar to those in Pokopia. Snorlax’s room is a bit more adult-oriented and would be quite believable as an actual room if it weren’t for the tall white dining table directly at the foot of the bed.
You Might Be Able To Explore The IKEA Cloud Island
For those of us who won’t be in Japan during the Pokémon Pokopia x IKEA collab, there’s still a chance we can participate, albeit limitedly. It would appear that the codes to visit the IKEA Island will be displayed in the actual stores where the promotion is happening, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see these codes circulated online. It’s currently unclear how much there is to actually explore in these Cloud Islands, or if there’s even anything to do besides see the recreated rooms.
For those that can’t take a trip to a Japanese IKEA, the crossover is admittedly a bit of a bummer. The collab Cloud Island could potentially be fun to check out, but it’ll likely pale in comparison to many of the more impressive player creations – the emphasis is clearly on the in-store experience. Pokémon Pokopia is something of a sensation, and while an IKEA crossover comes way out of left field, it’s still a testament to how popular the game has become.
