Only One Straw Hat Hasn’t Been Introduced In Netflix’s Live-Action One Piece

Netflix’s live-action One Piece is assembling a giant ensemble, with only one member of the Straw Hat Pirates yet to be introduced. One Piece season 2’s cast grew considerably, from the introduction of various Baroque Works agents to new members of the Going Merry’s crew. Nefertari Vivi was part of the latter, whose inclusion directly sets up One Piece season 3’s story.

The same can be said for the agents of Baroque Works in One Piece, who will be the antagonistic force of season 3 due to their planned invasion of Vivi’s kingdom, Alabasta. Naturally, Luffy and the Straw Hats will need to find more allies in their fight against the villainous organization.

While some of these allies have already been introduced to the show, only one of the Straw Hat Pirates is yet to be teased, be it via One Piece‘s subtle Easter eggs or an outright debut.

Franky Is The Only Straw Hat Pirate Not Mentioned In Netflix’s One Piece

Warning! The following sections contain spoilers for the One Piece manga and, likely, future seasons of Netflix’s show.

Thus far in Netflix’s live-action One Piece, only Franky has yet to be referenced. Franky becomes a Straw Hat Pirate in the future of the show, based on the source material, much like Tony Tony Chopper did in One Piece season 2. Of course, the live-action show has detailed the stories of Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, and Usopp in season 1.

Season 2 then did the same for the aforementioned Chopper, with that season also laying the groundwork for two future Straw Hat Pirates. One of these got a big supporting role in One Piece season 2: Nico Robin. While this name was only revealed in the final moments of One Piece season 2’s ending, the preceding episodes introduced her via another moniker, Miss All Sunday.

The second-in-command of Baroque Works will eventually join the Straw Hat Pirates, becoming a vital member of the crew. Beyond that, another future member of the crew has been teased several times. One of these references came in season 2, when a flashback showed King Wapol mentioning the assassination of the Fishmen queen and one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

One Piece’s Seven Warlords Explained: Identities, Powers & Marine Immunity

Netflix’s One Piece brings Mihawk into live-action and references the Seven Warlords of the Sea, or Shichibukai, a key part of One Piece’s world.

Arlong also referenced this Fishman Warlord in One Piece season 1. Eventually, this Warlord, Jinbe, will join Luffy’s crew. The final crew member of the Straw Hats to be outright teased in One Piece is Brook, who actually appeared in season 2. Brook was featured as part of Laboon’s flashback story from One Piece season 2, episode 2, played by Martial T. Batchamen.

Eventually, Brook will reunite with the Straw Hats, only in a very different way. Despite Brook and Jinbe joining the crew after Franky, the latter is the only Straw Hat Pirate yet to be teased at all in the live-action version of the story.

Franky Could Join Luffy’s Crew In One Piece Season 5

Despite the lack of references, Franky is set to join Luffy’s crew as early as One Piece season 5. Given what was teased in season 2’s finale, it is safe to assume that the entirety of One Piece season 3 will take place in Alabasta, with the latter concluding the civil war story that began in the former. Based on the source material, season 4 will likely adapt the Sky Island Saga.

Therefore, it is expected that One Piece season 5 will adapt the Water 7 Saga, wherein Franky is first introduced. Much like Nico Robin, Franky is introduced as a minor antagonist first, before joining Luffy’s crew in a later Saga. Although One Piece is yet to tee up Franky’s debut, he will be around sooner rather than later.
