The PlayStation Plus Essential April Lineup Has Leaked
With Easter fast approaching, we have a long weekend ahead of us, and with leakers already teasing April’s line-up, it seems as though a second major title will be joining the free library, but it is not one that users were hoping for. According to reliable PlayStation Plus leaker billbi-kun, the second title to be joining April’s PlayStation Plus line-up is Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream.
Developed by Dimps Corporation and set in the much loved Sword Art Online anime universe, Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream is the second installment for the 10th anniversary of the franchise. Featuring 21 characters from the series, as well as some new faces, this multiplayer RPG will see you “join the battle beyond” memory either solo or with friends. So why are users not excited about this addition?
Well, Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream was first released back in 2024, making it quite an outdated title for one of the major additions to the line-up this month. Additionally, heading over to the game’s Steam page will see you welcomed with a ‘Mixed’ rating, which seems to be the consensus, as Metacritic also marks it at a slightly above average score of 7.0. Overall, not only will its mixed rating not appeal to everybody, but if you are not a fan of the Sword Art Online franchise, this is a title you may automatically skip out on.
PlayStation Plus Subscribers Aren’t Loving These Games
Over on r/PlayStationPlus, where the leak was originally posted, PlayStation Plus users soon took the comments with their thoughts, and, as you can imagine, they were far from positive. “If I’m not mistaken, SAO: Fractured Daydream is almost entirely online only,” one user pointed out. “Which means that a lot of its features will be gone once its servers close. This includes the ability to modify, upgrade, or disassemble your weapons, and a lot of endgame gear is obtainable online only.”
“Neither of the leaked games so far appeal to me personally, but I’m happy for the people who are looking forward to them,” another user shared, to which a fellow user agreed, adding, “Sword Art is not for me, but I hope others enjoy it.” With others hoping that this expected line-up is an April Fool’s joke courtesy of Sony, it seems as though the company is really going to have to push the boat out when it comes to the rest of the library this upcoming month. For now, it’s a major no from us.
