Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the BJP-NDA campaign rally in Palakkad ahead of the Assembly elections, calling for a change in government and asserting that the alliance is ready to lead the State.

Addressing a public meeting at Kotta Maidan, he said the people of Kerala were no longer convinced by the promises of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF). He claimed that only the BJP-led NDA could meet public aspirations and ensure development.

He emphasised the NDA’s vision of a “Viksit Kerala,” promising stronger development initiatives with support from the Union government if the alliance comes to power.

Ruling out any deals with both the LDF and UDF in this elections, Modi said this time the A team in Kerala is BJP. There was a growing wave of support for the NDA in Kerala, he claimed. He criticised the Congress and CPI-M, accusing them of forming alliances elsewhere while opposing each other in the State to block the BJP’s rise.

Highlighting local issues, Modi described Palakkad as Kerala’s “rice bowl” and credited farmers for the district’s agricultural strength. He said the Centre had provided significant support through the PM-Kisan scheme, while alleging that successive State governments failed to adequately support farmers, including in paddy procurement payments.

Referring to the ongoing West Asia crisis, Modi said the Union government was actively engaging with Gulf nations to safeguard Indian workers and minimise the impact of the situation. He also accused the Congress of attempting to politicise the crisis for electoral gain.
