Accordingly, PM Modi said the airport marks a “new chapter” in development and reiterated that it will act as a key engine of growth for western Uttar Pradesh.
He highlighted that Uttar Pradesh has now emerged among the States with the highest number of international airports
Besides, the Prime Minister said the airport will benefit a wide regional belt including Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Etawah, Bulandshahr and Faridabad, while generating new opportunities for farmers, micro, small and medium enterprises, and youth.
Furthermore, PM Modi said the project is part of a broader infrastructure push in western Uttar Pradesh, citing the semiconductor factory in Noida, expansion of the Meerut Metro, and the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat rail as parallel initiatives.
He noted that the airport is integrated with major expressways and rail networks, improving multimodal connectivity across the region.
The Prime Minister further said the government is expanding aviation infrastructure nationwide, with more than 160 airports operational and 17 airports now in Uttar Pradesh.
He said the expansion of the UDAN scheme, under which more than 1.60 crore citizens have travelled by affordable air services, along with plans for 100 new airports and 200 helipads with an outlay of around ₹29,000 crore.
Additionally, PM Modi thanked farmers who contributed land for the airport (NIA) project and emphasised the role of infrastructure in strengthening food processing and global market access.
Prime Minister also noted the role of farmers in supporting the economy, particularly through ethanol production from sugarcane, stating that it has reduced crude oil import dependence and generated significant foreign exchange savings.
Overall, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of multimodal connectivity through freight corridors and road networks, stating that the Dadri convergence point will enable faster movement of agricultural and industrial goods to global markets.
At the same event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the inauguration reflects a new phase of development under the “double-engine government”.
Furthermore, the UP CM said Noida International Airport is being developed as a major logistics and investment hub, integrated with expressways and rail networks, and is expected to generate employment for lakhs of youth.
He added that the region will attract industries such as semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, apparel, medical devices and data centres, supported by a multimodal cargo ecosystem and future expansion plans including additional runways.
