Pokémon Fans Can Explore 9 Regions In This One Game

The Pokémon franchise recently celebrated its 30th birthday and Game Freak has been bringing us memorable experiences throughout those three decades and across 10 Generations.

There have undoubtedly been some highs and lows along the way, it has basically secured its position as one of the most iconic series in all of video games, and with Pokémon Winds and Waves on the way in 2027, the good times are set to continue relatively soon.

That said, there’s only so much we can expect from the developer in terms of official releases, so the best way to fill in the time gaps along the way is by turning to the extensive community who produce fan-made games for other players to enjoy. One of the most ambitious ever is Pokémon Fire Ash, and it’s well worth playing if you haven’t up to this point.

If you haven’t come across it before, Pokémon Fire Ash is a fan game produced in RPG Maker that loosely charts the adventures of Ash Ketchum in the anime, as he travels across Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and the Orange Islands. If you don’t fancy counting, that’s nine complete regions, and the ambition of the game doesn’t stop there.

Along the way, you’ll have over 50 Gym Battles to conquer, with many of the scripted fights you face either being against Ash’s traditional rivals or traveling companions. The abilities and moves included go all the way up to Gen VIII, while the game also includes Mega Evolutions, Alola Forms, Z-Moves, Dynamax, and Ash-Greninja.

It also incorporates a load of fun little features that you won’t see anywhere else, including having Pikachu following your character around on your shoulder while you explore and fun references to the anime throughout. The whole thing is made with Generation III graphics, with items and TMs all the way up to Gen VIII as well.

Who didn’t want to be Ash Ketchum when they were a kid after all? As with all Pokémon fan games, this one is also totally free to download from its official site, so there really is no risk to giving it a go.
