Hoenn is also a popular fan game setting, including Pokémon Pisces, which just debuted its latest trailer on YouTube. Finally, we know the release month for this extremely promising adventure.
The Pokémon Emerald Sequel You Never Expected
I’m Ready To Go Back To Hoenn
Pokémon Pisces is considered a “completely new sequel to Pokémon Emerald,” sporting 200+ new Pokémon and a ton of other changes. It’s from the same creators as Pokémon AlteRed Version and Pokémon AmalgaMagenta, and as usual, a ton of work went into Pisces.
For one, capturing Pokémon is quicker in general, and has a bunch of upgrades, like the Net Ball having a higher catch rate for smaller Pokémon, an Orbit Ball for catching space-themed Pokémon, and the ability to relearn moves at any time. New moves and the power to change types are in, creating new counters for types. You can challenge the Hoenn region gyms back to front, engage in new puzzles, and tackle a new mysterious masked rival named “Ray.”
Here’s the official tagline for the game: “Set years after the events of Pokémon Emerald and starring the original game’s Rivals, Pokémon Pisces aims to be an entirely new adventure set in a completely reimagined Hoenn. With a roster of over 250 Pokémon, both new and old, Pisces is a long and meticulously crafted journey. Your new gym challenge starts with you in Pacifidlog Town, and proceeds backwards through the gyms of the Hoenn region, with surprises and new storylines tucked into every nook and cranny. All the way, you will be helping out Team Ozone, an environmentalist organization made of the reformed remnants of Team Aqua and Magma. Your rival, Ray, is a mysterious scout for the organization who instantly takes on an antagonistic role toward the player. Pokémon Pisces will be trying to hit a more lighthearted romp tone over a serious one!”
The focus on a lighthearted romp will definitely appeal to many fans. It’s already out, so if this sounds enticing, you can experience it now.
Pokémon Pisces Isn’t Like Other Pokémon Games
There Are So Many Great Fan Games
Given that it’s a 30+ hour adventure in its own right, Pokémon Pisces is a fully-fledged RPG. Battling eight dual-typed gyms sets it apart from other Hoenn-based titles, and there’s a bigger focus on double battles.
If you’re a Hoenn fan and are waiting for yet another Pokémon remake, this might help pass the time. It’s going to be a while, as they haven’t even released a Gen 5 remake yet.
