Readmoo will release the Mooink Chill e-reader soon

Readmoo, the bookseller behind the popular Mooink line of e-readers, has just released the Mooink Chill. The Chill is a lightweight, 6-inch color e-reader that debuts at the 2026 Taipei International Book Exhibition. It is marketed as a “phone-style” reader designed for portability and one-handed use.

The Mooink Chill features a 6.13-inch E Ink Kaleido 3™ color e-paper screen. It has a black-and-white resolution of 824 x 1648 at 300 PPI and a color resolution of 412 x 824 at 150 PPI. It has both warm and cool lighting that can be adjusted with a slider bar. Turn the pages of e-books with ease, thanks to the two physical page-turn buttons, and it can also be done via the touchscreen.

Under the hood is a 2.0 GHz × 4-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. It supports WIFI IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4GHz, 5GHz, Bluetooth 5.2 to connect wireless headphones or earbuds to listen to audiobooks. A USB-C port is used for charging and transferring data and is powered by a 2400mAh battery. The dimensions are 15.9 × 8.0 × 0.84 cm, and it weighs 170 grams.

It is running an outdated version of Android 10, which is terrible. There is no Google Play on this device, because it is a domestic Chinese release, with no English fonts, but it does support Hwakang Qinghua Heiti, Hwakang Mingti, Hwakang Kaiti, Hwakang Fangsongti, Siyuan Songti, Yuansuiti, Zhuyin Yuansuiti, Tibetan, etc. However, if you sideload your own English books, you will be able to read them, but your mileage will vary.

The design is similar to a smartphone, and I wonder how well it will sell domestically in Taiwan. Onyx BOOX has proven that a design like this is a recipe for success with their Palma line of e-readers. However, they will face stiff competition from BOOX and the iReader Tango.
