Everything about Genshin Impact 6.5 has been officially revealed by developer HoYoverse, such as the update’s release date, its new character, Linnea, the patch’s banner structure, and much more. The popular action RPG is currently near the end of Version 6.4, a patch that took players back to Mondstadt for a series of events, including the release of the playable version of Varka in Genshin Impact and the flagship event called Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind.
The RPG’s story has slowed down after reaching the climax of the Nod-Krai arc with Version 6.3, but it will not stop so soon. There is more narrative content to develop as players are getting closer to the final nation of Teyvat, Snezhnaya, and the stakes are higher than ever with the impending awakening of the Heavenly Principles in Genshin Impact. There is still a long way to go before all this happens, but the game will continue to expand with Version 6.5.
Genshin Impact 6.5 – Release Date
The RPG’s Next Update Arrives On Schedule
The next big update for the RPG, Version 6.5, has been formally revealed during the Genshin Impact 6.5 livestream. Following the conclusion of the special event, the developer announced the release date for the patch. While it was possible to deduce when the update would arrive, HoYoverse has now confirmed that Genshin Impact 6.5 will be released on April 8 across all platforms on which the game is available.
With the official release date already set, it’s highly unlikely that the update will be pushed back in any way. Usually, when there are any delays, the developer tends to push back the respective livestream from when it would normally happen. Not only has the livestream occurred, but the release date has been announced, so players should rest easy knowing that they’ll be able to play the upcoming content starting on April 8.
Genshin Impact 6.5 Livestream Codes & Rewards

During the special event, HoYoverse also revealed the Genshin Impact 6.5 livestream codes, which grant players different types of in-game rewards when claimed. In total, the developer provided three different codes, each of which offers 100 Primogems and some extra resources, like Mora and Character EXP Materials. This means that players can get up to 300 free Primogems in Genshin Impact, ahead of the arrival of Version 6.5.
The table below lists all Version 6.5 livestream codes and their respective rewards:

To do this, you can redeem them through the in-game Redemption Code feature in the Account settings page, or via the official Genshin Impact website. Once they have each been redeemed, you must claim the rewards from your in-game mailbox.
Genshin Impact 6.5 – New Character & Banners
Linnea Makes Her Debut As A Lunar-Crystallize Specialist
One of the highlights of Version 6.5, which was presented during the livestream, was the new playable character. Linnea is a new 5-star Geo character who uses a bow in combat. There had been leaks about her beforehand, but HoYoverse has now confirmed how she will work in battle. According to the developer, Linnea will be a specialist in Lunar-Crystallize reactions, first introduced with Columbina in Genshin Impact.
Linnea will be able to improve the power of this reaction, while also dealing off-field Lunar-Crystallize DMG. This will make Linnea a perfect team comp member for Zibai in Genshin Impact, acting as the party’s secondary sub-DPS, working alongside Columbina to enhance the damage output. Linnea can also provide some healing with her Burst, which scales with her DEF stat, which will make her a viable secondary sustain unit. Since she passively reduces enemies’ Geo RES, she could also work with other Geo DPS, like Navia.
Passively, Linnea can also increase her team comp’s Elemental Mastery, which will further improve the power of Lunar-Crystallize reactions, on top of the buff she already naturally provides whenever Hydro Crystallize reactions occur. If you’ve pulled for Zibai, know that Linnea may prove to be indispensable for Zibai’s best performance with Lunar-Crystallize reactions in Genshin Impact.
In addition to the new character, HoYoverse revealed the banner structure planned for Version 6.5, revealing the rerun characters that players will be able to pull for during the update. During Phase 1 banners, players will be able to pull for Linnea, as well as a rerun for Chasca, while Phase 2 banners will be composed of Lauma and Nefer reruns.
There will also be a Chronicled Wish banner for Fontaine characters, featuring Lyney, Sigewinne, Navia, Emilie, and Clorinde in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact 6.5 – Story Updates
The Update Takes Players Back To Nod-Krai
While no new Archon Quests will be added with Version 6.5, HoYoverse did tease the new World Quests, which will be related directly to the new map areas in Nod-Krai that had previously been leaked and have now been confirmed. The upcoming patch will take players back to a new area called Dornman Port, at the edges of Mondstadt, which has long been discussed. The Temple of Space of Asmoday will also be incorporated into the new map areas.
As they explore the new areas and get ready for the true epic conclusion to the story arc within a few updates, they’ll be able to get rewards, as well as face a new boss. There will also be a dedicated Story Quest for Linnea to learn more about her.
Furthermore, HoYoverse highlighted all the limited-time events that will help bolster the amount of content in Version 6.5, detailing the activities that players will be able to partake in and the rewards that they will be able to claim from them. This includes even more free Primogems.
With the confirmation, it’s safe to say there will be a lot to do after the arrival of Version 6.5. Players are eagerly awaiting more details about the upcoming region, Snezhnaya, but in the meantime, they’ll be able to farm resources and save up Primogems for future Genshin Impact character releases.
