Once you’re done with that, however, it would be totally understandable if you’re on the lookout for something that scratches a similar itch. Fortunately, there are plenty of options out there that look like it could do just that, including one which is set to join Steam Early Access very soon.
Project: Mist Is A Creepy New Survival Game
Over on Steam, you should be able to find the store page for Project: Mist, an upcoming open world survival horror that leans heavily into the combat side of things. Players step into the shoes of an unnamed figure who sets out to explore an enigmatic island, with no linear story or hand-holding designed to tell you what to do or where to go.
The island is also filled with monsters on an enormous scale, and it will be up to you how to deal with them. You can take them on directly, run away, or observe them from a distance to see exactly what they do.
The survival mechanics also run very deep, and you’ll need to build a survival base to keep the worst of the horrors out. There’s also the opportunity to craft gear, weapons, armor, and other items that make your day-to-day life a little easier, in what promises to be a punishing experience.
It even has some cozy game features like farming, all set against a backdrop where you certainly wouldn’t be expecting anything like that. It makes for a very intriguing proposition, and at this early stage, it could well be a game like very little else on the market right now.
If You Like Rust Or Valheim, Check This Out
As mentioned earlier, the survival mechanics and base building features take this beyond a simple monster-killing game, and more towards open-ended survival efforts like Rust and Valheim. The game is set to enter Early Access soon, with the developer confirming that will be for a relatively short six months, before the full 1.0 version launches after that.
In even better news, there’s a demo version of the game available right now to download from the official store page, so you can try to get a general vibe before committing to the full purchase. Plus, if you don’t like it, you can always go back to the warm embrace of Resident Evil Requiem.
