Shut Up And Take My Money

Perhaps nothing regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 has been so heavily debated and speculated upon than its price. Even amidst nearly constant delay rumors, and a couple of trailers dropping, the price of GTA 6 has been a major talking point. Now, it looks like we may finally have some answers, and pretty much everyone seems thrilled.

Over on Reddit, GTA fans discussed the news that Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, indicated the price of the game will be between $70 and $80. This is more in-line with many AAA releases, so GTA 6 seemingly won’t cost more just because it’s such a massive and highly-anticipated game. Understandably, fans were pretty excited about this.

GTA 6’s Price Has Been Narrowed Down Massively

Previously, there had been a lot of speculation that GTA 6 would cost $100. In fact, the chatter surrounding the cost hasn’t really died down much in the past 3 years. Now, thanks to Zelnick’s comments, it looks like the price has been narrowed down considerably. And fans won’t have to pay extra, since GTA 6 will apparently cost around the usual $70.

It’s best to take this with a grain of salt, however. In the interview, Zelnick didn’t explicitly state this would be the price, but based around his comments, it seems like GTA 6 is targeting that $70–$80 price range Zelnick mentions: “Very hard for me to believe that we would want to have interstitial advertising in a game that someone paid 70 or 80 bucks for. Would seem unfair.” Presumably, this is about GTA 6, which is why fans are so excited.

This Is Great News For GTA 6 Fans

Lucia and Jason are together in GTA 6.

Fans seem pretty united over this being a fair price for GTA 6, assuming this is all true. “I’m happy to pay it. The level of detail they put into it will be worth it,” wrote one user on Reddit. “The game is literally made to last for years,” reads another response. Another post simply shared the Futurama meme of “Shut Up and Take My Money!” Honestly, that really sums it up.

For years, GTA fans have thought they’d need to pay $100 or more for GTA 6, and while the cost of AAA games has risen in recent years, with $70 becoming the standard for many so-called premium releases, that’s still a much better price than anything in the triple digits. Until a price is officially revealed for Grand Theft Auto 6, we won’t know for sure, but this is hopefully a sign of a more affordable game being on the way.
