Sinners Dominates Streaming Worldwide After Michael B. Jordan’s First-Ever Oscars Win

Sinners makes a killing on streaming after the Oscars.

Sinners‘ star-studded cast and original story have been the talk of the town ever since the Ryan Coogler movie was released. The film marked yet another successful collaboration between Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan, who have worked together on other hits, such as Black Panther and Creed. Sinners ended its worldwide box office run with an impressive $369.4 million.

The vampire movie not only managed to land well with the audience, but also became a critical darling. Sinners boasts a near-perfect 97% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie piled up several awards and nominations during this awards season, leading up to a historic 16 Academy Award nominations, the most ever for a movie. It won four, including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan.

After Sinners‘ successful night at the Oscars, with Michael B. Jordan taking home his first-ever Oscar, Sinners is now the most-watched movie on HBO Max worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. The rest of the chart includes movies like Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Scarlett Johansson’s Jurassic World Rebirth, three Planet of the Apes films, and more. Sinners managed to accomplish a major feat after its Oscar wins.

Before the Academy Awards, Sinners was nowhere to be seen on HBO Max’s Global Top Ten Movies list. As such, not only did it manage to make its way into the chart, but the film shot up past all other movies on the platform to claim the number 1 spot. Sinners is currently trending in 29 countries on HBO Max.

Some of those countries include Brazil, Mexico, Spain, and more. Out of all 29 nations, Sinners only ranks as the most-watched movie on HBO Max in one of them: Portugal. The R-rated vampire movie has also found new life nationwide, as Sinners is currently the 2nd most-watched movie on HBO Max in the United States.

In ScreenRant’s Sinners review, Mae Abdulbaki gave the Ryan Coogler movie a stellar 9 out of 10 score. The critic said, “Ryan Coogler’s exquisite vampire horror is already one of the best films of the year.” Sinners‘ Academy Awards performance corroborates that claim. The R-rated film took home the awards for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actor.

At the time of writing, despite a post-credits scene tease, there are no official plans for a Sinners sequel to happen. As for Coogler and Jordan’s next collaboration, it should not take long. There is a good chance that Jordan’s Erik Killmonger could be involved in some form in the director’s next Marvel movie, Black Panther 3, putting the team back together after Sinners‘ success.
