Spyro The Dragon Official New Release Coming This June

First released back in 1998, the Spyro the Dragon franchise has become one of the most recognizable in video game history. Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, the first game in the platform game follows the iconic purple dragon and his dragonfly friend, Sparx, as they journey across Dragon Kingdom to defeat Gnasty Gnorc. Becoming a well-known PlayStation mascot alongside the likes of Crash Bandicoot, Spyro welcomed two sequels in 1999 and 2000 respectively, before Insomniac Games gave up the rights to the IP shortly after.

However, Spyro Reiginited Trilogy arrived in 2018, remaking the original trilogy and bringing our favorite purple dragon back to the forefront of the video game sphere. Now, eight years on, and it seems as though the iconic mascot is back once more.

Spyro The Dragon Deserves More Love

Courtesy of First 4 Figures, Spyro™ the Dragon – Peace Keepers Red Crystal Dragon is an upcoming collectible for the Spyro franchise, and it is available to pre-order now. Set to release in Q1 of 2026, it will not be long before customers will get their hands on this stunning figure which comes in at a decently priced $78.00. “First 4 Figures is proud to introduce their latest metal collectible, the Peace Keepers Red Crystal Dragon Mini Metal Statue. This is the fourth statue to release in the Spyro™ the Dragon Mini Metals lineup,” the official product description reads.

Gnasty Gnorc was belittled by the dragons during an interview with the Dragon News Network for being simple, harmless, and ugly. This angered Gnasty Gnorc, and he took his revenge by turning all the dragons in the entire Dragon Realm into crystal, except Spyro. It is now up to Spyro to free all the crystallized dragons and foil Gnasty Gnorc’s evil plans!

As a mini replica of those crystallized dragons, the Spyro™ the Dragon – Peace Keepers Red Crystal Dragon figure comes alongside:

  • Spyro™ the Dragon – Peace Keepers Red Crystal Dragon mini metal painted statue
  • Highly detailed metal base inspired by the Spyro™ the Dragon art style
  • Black velvet box with a red strap

Is A New Spyro Game On The Way?

A dragon up at the horizon in Legend of Spyro

With many fans wanting to see the Spyro the Dragon franchise revived, the hope is that Spyro the Dragon 4 will finally be announced. However, back in 2025, a potential hint for the next installment was spotted on LinkedIn, so could this mean that the future is indeed looking bright for our favorite purple dragon? At the time of writing, that has not been confirmed, but with Spyro being an iconic character in PlayStation history, the franchise deserves the chance to shine once more.
