Stacy Might Not Survive The Madison Season 2, Tease Stars After Cliffhanger Season 1 Ending

Taylor Sheridan’s new Western drama has come to a close as part 2 of season 1 was released on Paramount+. The Madison stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Will Arnett, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, and Patrick J. Adams. The series follows the wealthy New York-based Clyburn family as they try to heal from a heartbreaking tragedy. The family relocates to the Madison River Valley in Montana to try to build a new life after loss.

In an interview with TVInsider, Garrett, who plays Stacy Clyburn’s (played by Pfeiffer) daughter Abigail Reese, discussed the cliffhanger in the final episode as well as the state Stacy is in during the season and what fans could expect from the character in season 2. The season ended with Stacy lying beside Preston’s grave with a handgun for protection. Kevin Zegers’ character, Cade, found her and feared the worst.

“There is a part of Abigail that doesn’t trust that Stacy wants to be on this planet anymore. There’s a real instability in her mother that I think is very unnerving, and so, I don’t know that she thinks she’s OK. I don’t think Montana is where she went in her head when she realizes her mom’s gone.

If you’ve lost the person that is your soulmate, and you don’t feel like there’s any purpose to live anymore, I don’t know where you’d go, but she’s really scared that she’s not safe. She’s not herself.”

Pfeiffer and Russell also reveal their thoughts on how Stacy’s decline in mental stability could lead to even more tragedy for the family. “Season 2 is the messy and profound building of having lost everything that you know. Are you going to survive?” Pfeiffer reveals before Russell adds, “[Stacy], it becomes questionable whether she’s going to survive.” Pfeiffer continues by adding:

“The family is fractured. How are they going to survive this as a family? How is Stacy going to survive her grief and the loss of the only man she has ever loved in her life? They’re so entangled together, as you’re still forming as a person. Where does one end and the other begin?”

The cast, however, did state that there’s quite a bit of humor featured throughout The Madison season 2 to give viewers some calm amidst the tragedy. While Stacy’s fate has yet to be determined, Sheridan is known for having his main characters meet tragedy, like in Yellowstone and its prequels, 1883 and 1923.
