This was at a point where the publisher was pumping out games like Left 4 Dead shortly after, and Portal and the Half-Life series did a lot of heavy lifting for years. Now, it’s a ubiquitous platform for buying games on PC. Whether you’re a fan or not, you can pick up a game now on Steam that was a pretty big hit in 2018 and is still going.
A Classic 2018 Steam Game Is Free Until April 5
Grab It Now While You Can
For 24 hours, you can grab House Flipper for free on Steam. Everyone’s favorite HGTV minigame became a fully-fledged playable project in 2018, and it’s been wildly popular ever since. It’s currently clocking in at over 44,000 reviews, and is sitting at “very positive” ratings.
Here’s the gist: “House Flipper is a unique chance to become a one-man renovation crew. Buy, repair and remodel devastated houses. Give them a second life and sell them at a profit!” Initially, you’ll take jobs to buy a property, then you’ll need to clean it up, knock some walls down, and remodel. Your tools of the trade include: a paint roller, a window cleaner, a plaster tool, a mop, a hammer, and a tablet.
Those reviews are still positive as of this year, with one fan noting: “This is my ultimate comfort game! This is one of my favorite games to play when I’ve had a stressful day and just need to zone out for a while. Definitely recommend.”
Others say it’s not necessarily “chill” in the sense that you can become addicted and keep playing it: “I picked up House Flipper thinking it would be a chill, time-killer type of game… and somehow I ended up completely hooked.”
One review shouts out how you can get more out of the game with the Steam Workshop: “Hands down my favourite game. With the Steam Workshop, this game is 10 times better, and the jobs are actually fun unlike other games.”
Even if you’re not a fan of the premise, this could suck you in. Grab it while it’s free before the promotion ends.
Steam Always Has Something Free To Play
There’s Almost Too Much At Times
Whether it’s a free demo, a free-to-play supported project, a limited-run promotion, or straight-up permanently free games, there’s a lot to play on Steam without spending anything.
If you have a Steam account, go get House Flipper while you can. Even if you don’t, consider signing up just to get some free stuff and come back to it later on a rainy day.
