Stranger Things Spinoff ‘Tales From ’85’ Recasts Original Villain Actor for New Role

It seems Stranger Things is far from finished with Hawkins. Following the epic finale of Netflix’s original hit, Stranger Things is ready to make a streaming comeback. This year will see the release of Stranger Things: Tale From ’85, after all, and the spin-off will come loaded with a casting surprise. After all, a familiar actor from Stranger Things season four is set to return with this new supernatural series, but the star won’t be reprising his villainous role from his first appearance.

In the full trailer for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, fans are given a look at the show’s sprawling cast. All the regular suspects are included, such as Eleven and Hopper, but a slew of new characters are introduced. According to Netflix, one of these new faces belongs to Cosmo, and the character will be voiced by none other than Robert Englund.

If the actor’s name sounds familiar, well — don’t be too surprised. Englund made his debut in Stranger Things in season four. It was there the veteran actor brought Victor Creel to life, an imprisoned man at Pennhurst Mental Hospital for murdering his family in the 1950s. The war veteran claimed the murders were committed by a demon, and after being interviewed by Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley, it is discovered that Vecna was the one responsible for the gruesome deaths. Now, Englund is trading the role of Victor Creel for Cosmo, so fans will reunite with the beloved actor shortly.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Will Bring a Missing Hawkins Mystery to Life

Naturally, Englund will be joined on screen by a number of talented actors. Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 will bring Eleven to life with Brooklyn Davey Norstedt while Will is played by Benjamin Plessala. Actors Braxton Quinney, Elisha ‘EJ’ Williams, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport will play Dustin, Lucas, and Max respectively. As for Hopper, Brett Gipson has been cast to voice the surly sheriff while actor Jeremy Jordan of Supergirl fame plays Steve Harrington.

With old and new faces returning for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, all eyes are on the spin-off’s thrilling plot. The show will be set in the winter of 1985 and follow the Hawkins crew as a new foe awakens under the ice, sparking a dangerous investigation for our heroes to sort out. The story will be canon compliant with Netflix’s original Stranger Things series as the Duffer Brothers acted as executive producers on the show. Fans will be able to check out the animated spin-off before long as Netflix is slated to release the show on April 23.

If you cannot wait until the end of April to watch the new Stranger Things series, you are in luck. Special early screenings of the show’s first two episodes will be showing in select theaters nationwide. The event will go down April 18 at 34 theaters across the United States, including the Paris Theater in New York and Netflix House Philadelphia. Tickets for the early screenings are on sale now through AMC Theaters.
