Taylor Sheridan’s Marshals has become an instant global streaming hit after breaking a long-standing Dutton tradition. The new series premiered on CBS Sunday, March 1, taking place after the end of Yellowstone. The show follows Kayce Dutton joining an elite group of US Marshals to fight high-end, organized crime across Montana.
Now, FlixPatrol has confirmed Marshals is a global streaming success, instantly becoming Number 5 worldwide on Paramount+. According to data from March 2, 2026, the show has scored major spots on Top 10 lists for the streaming platform around the world. This includes being Number 2 in the United States and Australia, and Number 4 in Canada and Argentina.
The show breaks tradition among Yellowstone‘s many spinoffs because of its presentation. Unlike 1883 and 1923, which served as prequels exploring the history of the Dutton family, Marshals is a sequel, exploring what happens to Kayce following the end of the main show. Instead of going back to the past, this particular spinoff is looking ahead at the franchise’s future.
It’s also the first Yellowstone spinoff not to focus on the family ranch, or running a ranch in general. Instead, the show has a more action-focused, procedural feel to it, a far cry from the types of storylines Kayce experienced in the original show. However, these differences haven’t stopped the series from becoming a literal overnight success.
So far, however, this success has mostly been confined to audience reception. As of writing, the Western sequel sits at a 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb based on 266 reviews, indicating plenty of favoritism from viewers. However, reviews for Marshals have been more mixed. The show currently sits at a 43% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes based on seven reviews.
While it’s too early to tell how well the show will do critically as a whole, Marshals‘ streaming success is a promising glimpse into Yellowstone‘s future. The show is one of multiple spinoffs in the works, including The Dutton Ranch, a series focused on Beth and Rip that’s currently filming and will premiere on Paramount+.
With Marshals becoming an instant hit on streaming, it’s only a matter of time before the show is bolstered further by audience interest. CBS has also already opened the writers room for season 2, despite no official renewal as of now, meaning they have lots of faith in the series’ long-term success.
New episodes of Marshals air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and stream next day on Paramount+.
