However, if you’re in desperate need for something to fill that Bloodborne 2-shaped hole in your heart, there’s an amazing project that you absolutely need to check out called Dark Souls: The Beast Presence (via NexusMods).
No Bloodborne 2? No Problem!
Dark Souls: The Beast Presence is an incredible and massive fan-created Dark Souls 3 mod that will absolutely scratch that Bloodborne 2 itch. The mod brings the world of Yharnam to Dark Souls 3, revamping the gameplay experience in an attempt to deliver the highly requested new Bloodborne game that may never come to fruition.
According to The Beast Presence modder mrSYMB, “The idea is to keep the same Dark Souls 3 world, same paths and progression — but experienced entirely through the skin, mechanics and dread of a Bloodborne hunter.”
Dark Souls: The Beast Presence introduces a completely revamped Bloodborne-inspired experience in Dark Souls 3 with unique trick weapons, hunter armor, as well as various gameplay changes. For example, Estus is no longer in the game at all, and instead players will find the blood vials similar to what they’d come across in Bloodborne.
Further, “curse mechanics have been converted to frenzy mechanics” from Bloodborne, and there’s an entirely new opening and character progression with none of the classic Dark Souls 3 classes. Players will start as an unarmed character in the Foreigner’s set. That’s just the tip of the iceberg for this reimagined DS3-Bloodborne mod, and it comes highly recommended among users.
Dark Souls Modders Are Keeping The Fire Burning
While it’s a far cry from an official new Bloodborne game or current-gen remaster of the original, The Beast Presence mod is a prime example of how the community is keeping the dream of new Bloodborne content alive.
There are several unique mods for the Dark Souls games as well as Bloodborne itself that reinvent the experience in creative new ways, and these projects are really the only option players have short of a surprise announcement from FromSoft about Bloodborne 2.
While The Beast Presence is still a work in progress and may be a little rough around the edges, it’s a great place to start if you’re looking for a Bloodborne alternative, and the installation process isn’t all that complicated thanks to a useful video walkthrough of the process. Ultimately, if you’re a fan of Bloodborne and/or Dark Souls, venturing into the realm of mods is a great way to dive back into these games for a fresh experience.
