The Bride Ends Warner Bros. Record-Breaking Box Office Streak With Disappointing US Debut

Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, The Bride! is projected to earn a 3-day gross between $8 and $10 million at the domestic box office by the end of its opening weekend. This is significantly below the $40 million projections for the opening weekend of fellow new release Hoppers. Pixar’s newest original animated movie has easily secured the No. 1 spot for the weekend.

By ceding the No. 1 position to Hoppers, The Bride! ends Warner Bros.’ historic run of No. 1 debuts. The company recently had nine consecutive domestic releases in a row hit No. 1 on their respective opening weekends.

Among that impressive streak was a record-shattering seven consecutive movies that premiered with $40 million or more at domestic box office on their respective opening weekends, which is something that no studio in history had ever done before. In fact, Warner Bros. had already set the record when their streak reached six $40 million titles in a row.
