The Last Of Us Officially Returns With New Release This March

The Last of Us has become one of the most iconic post-apocalyptic zombie games ever made, with the HBO television series boosting its popularity into the stratosphere. While fans have been eager to learn what’s next for the franchise, there hasn’t been much news on the status of The Last of Us 3 or any other new TLOU projects from developers at Naughty Dog.

However, The Last of Us fans have at least one new upcoming Part 1 release to look forward to from Naughty Dog, and it will officially be available this month.

The Last Of Us Gets A New Release This Month

The Last of Us is getting an official new Naughty Dog licensed collectible from Dark Horse Direct, with “The Last of Us: Joel & Ellie on Horseback Premium Statue” officially releasing in March 2026. It’s a 13-inch-tall premium polyresin statue depicting Ellie riding her horse, Callus, with Joel walking by their side.

The statue is available for pre-order now, but comes with a hefty price tag as it’s considered a premium collectible, listed for roughly $350 a pop. The expected ship window is listed on the official Dark Horse Direct website for anytime between March and May 2026, and shipping dates are likely to vary depending on when you place your order.

This premium collectible captures the duo during a quiet but pivotal moment from The Last of Us Part I, as Ellie and Joel venture into the University of Eastern Colorado. Every detail has been brought to life with exceptional craftsmanship by Substance Modelworks, portraying this beautiful moment with in-game accuracy.

TLOU Fans Are Torn On Franchise’s Future

While there have been heavy rumors and ongoing speculation about The Last of Us Part 3 after Neil Druckmann let slip that he had an outline for the story already in the works, it’s still unclear whether the sequel will ever actually happen. That said, not all players are convinced there even needs to be a third game, largely because of how controversially Part 2 ended.

That said, developers at Naughty Dog have their hands full right now with Heretic: The Last Prophet, a brand-new sci-fi IP that is set to launch in the somewhat near future, possibly as soon as next summer. With that timeline in mind, it’s unlikely development on a third The Last of Us game would start in earnest before Heretic releases, which means fans are in for a bit of a wait.

With the future of The Last of Us video games still up in the air at this point, the closest most fans will get to a new release anytime soon is in the form of collectibles such as the new Dark Horse and Naughty Dog statue above, which is an excellent addition to any collection, even if it’s not the release most fans are waiting on.
