The Next Chapter Season 2 Trailer [EXCLUSIVE]

As a spinoff of the larger Librarians franchise, which includes both multiple films and television series, The Next Chapter follows Vikram Chamberlain (Callum McGowan), a Librarian from the 1800s who finds himself stranded in the present day after unleashing magic across the continent. Vikram works to fix the situation with Connor Green (Bluey Robinson), Charlie Cornwall (Jessica Green), and Dr. Lysa Pascal (Olivia Morris) as allies. Stone, who was a key character in all four The Librarians seasons, appears in two episodes of season 1 of the spinoff as a mentor figure.

Ahead of season 2, ScreenRant exclusively presents a new The Librarians: The Next Chapter teaser trailer. The footage opens with Vikram drawing a sword and confronting Merlin, played by Lost and The Lord of the Rings star Dominic Monaghan, who says: “The world needs to be protected from magic. Nice to meet you, Librarian.” This is followed by an array of other shots featuring Vikram and his eclectic team on various fantastical adventures before the trailer concludes with him dramatically declaring to an unseen individual that “The Library will stop you.” Check out the trailer below:

In addition to McGowan, Robinson, Green, Morris, Kane, and Monaghan, The Librarians: The Next Chapter cast in season 2 includes Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso, Downton Abbey), Josh Gates (host of Discovery Channel’s Expedition Unknown), Stefan Kapičić (Deadpool), Oliver Dench (Hotel Portofino, Pandora), Ty Tennant (House of the Dragon, War of the Worlds), Flula Borg (Pitch Perfect 2, The Rookie), Alan Emrys (Translations, Host), Malcolm Sinclair (Casino Royale, Andor), Reece Ritchie (The Lovely Bones, The Ark), Cat White (Ten Percent), Gledisa Arthur (Everyone Is Going to Die), Jack Cunningham-Nuttall (Loki, The Crown), Danny Rea (Kingdom), Luka Divac (Boys and Girls) and Alex Henry (Shenanigans, Serial Dater). The franchise’s longtime character Cassandra Cillian (Lindy Booth) is also in the new season.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the spinoff elicited a mixed response from fans with a just “Fresh” score of 62%. Many of the audience reviews praise the series for embracing itself as being fun, campy and not taking itself too seriously, while others argue that The Next Chapter is not as compelling as the original series. In ScreenRant‘s review of The Librarians: The Next Chapter season 1 finale, Kieran Hair takes note of the inventive production design, writing that “episode 10 embraces its medieval setting in a surprisingly immersive fashion despite the series’ clear lack of budget.”

An official release date for The Librarians: The Next Chapter season 2 has not been announced yet, but new episodes will air on TNT, where the series had the number one cable original drama premiere in 2025.
