There have been many different versions of The Office, the 2001 UK workplace mockumentary sitcom created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. The longest-running remake was the nine-season US show of the same name, which recently spawned the Peacock spinoff The Paper. However, there have been more than a dozen international remakes of the show, in 11 different languages.
The latest remake is a Spanish-language series from Mexico titled La Oficina, which debuted on March 13. Per FlixPatrol‘s proprietary streaming measurements, the new series has been No. 1 on Prime Video in Mexico every day since March 14.
Overall, La Oficina is No. 9 on the worldwide Top 10 chart for Prime Video series, in spite of the fact that it is not available on streaming in the U.S. La Oficina has charted worldwide primarily due to its performance in nine Spanish-speaking territories.
Outside of Mexico, it has peaked at No. 2 in Guatemala and Salvador, but it is also in the Top 10 in Costa Rica (No. 4), Ecuador (No. 4), Honduras (No. 4), Panama (No. 7), Paraguay (No. 8), and Peru (No. 5).
Thanks to the strong viewership it has amassed in Central and South America, La Oficina has been able to perform at the level of Prime Video series that have a much wider global reach. In fact, it has landed on the chart alongside a number of popular series that have the advantage of charting in more individual territories.
At the time of writing, the Top 10 chart is largely composed of English-language series, including the Nicole Kidman crime thriller Scarpetta (No. 1), Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock (No. 2), the animated superhero series Invincible (No. 3), the James Patterson adaptation Cross (No. 5), and the video game adaptation Fallout (No. 7).
The show has also spent the majority of the week charting above the popular action drama Reacher, which is one of Prime Video’s biggest recent hits.
Between the success of La Oficina and the spinoff The Paper (which spent two weeks on the Top 10 chart for original streaming series across platforms in 2025), The Office has proven its viability as a brand even though both the iconic UK and US series debuted more than two decades ago.
