Right now, the Netflix top 10 is dominated by the major new additions to the service. That includes the likes of blockbusters Jurassic World Rebirth and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 1. However, while Jurassic World Rebirth tops the list, the film right behind it is a little-known action thriller worth a look.
Trap House Is A Hidden Gem From 2025
The surprising movie that is nearing the top of Netflix’s current top 10 is Trap House. This action thriller was made on a small budget and was mostly overlooked upon release, yet it’s one of those rare projects to find new life once it hits a streaming service.
Trap House is set in El Paso, Texas, and focuses on a DEA agent on an undercover mission with his partner as they embark on a cat-and-mouse game with their very own children, who intend to rob a drug cartel. It’s a wild premise that lends itself to some intense scenes involving the family members.
Reviews for Trap House were quite mixed, with the film currently sitting at a 52% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While that isn’t a sparkling number, there are plenty of enjoyable movies out there in the same range, meaning Trap House is worth checking out.
The Cast Of Trap House Is Quietly Great
If the intriguing premise isn’t enough to sell you on Trap House, then the cast should do just that. For starters, the film is led by the versatile Dave Bautista, playing DEA agent Ray Seale. Meanwhile, his son Cody is played by Jack Champion, who has previously starred in Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Sophia Lillis of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, It, and All Her Fault fame, also appears and delivers another strong performance. Veteran actors Bobby Cannavale and Tony Dalton also have roles, as do Kate del Castillo, Blu del Barrio, Inde Navarratte, and Whitney Peak.
You won’t find many movies on this small a budget to feature a cast filled with such notable names. Bautista is the best wrestler turned actor out there, Cannavale is an Emmy winner, and Lillis is one of the most impressive rising stars in Hollywood, making Trap House a loaded hidden gem.
