Premiering in July 2025 and based on the character created by Michael Connelly, the series follows Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q) as she leads Los Angeles’ severely underfunded cold case unit with the help of an all-volunteer team.
The Ballard cast includes Courtney Taylor, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill, and John Carroll Lynch, along with guest appearances from Bosch star Titus Welliver. The Prime Video crime drama drew strong reviews and solid viewership, earning a season 2 renewal in October, just months after its debut.
Deadline reports that Ballard season 2 is set to premiere later this year, with Welliver reprising his role as Bosch. The reporting comes in the context of revealing that Law & Order alum Benjamin Bratt has joined the Ballard season 2 cast. Bratt will play Ryan Ainsley, a former DEA agent who left behind the pursuit of hardened drug traffickers in favor of a quieter life as a cowboy working his ranch in Idaho.
