Now, a new game called Treasure Hunters is expected to join the friendslop category, and it may be worth checking out. Developed by Biax, the title is a first-person treasure-hunting game that will set you inside dungeons with your friends to recover valuables for the maximum amount of profit. Available on Steam, Treasure Hunters is an extraction game like REPO and Lethal Company, but there is a twist to the formula.
If You Like Tomb Raider, Take A Look At…
Treasure Hunters Seems Like REPO
Aside from simply entering dungeons and recovering valuable items, Treasure Hunters takes a lesson from the book of Tomb Raider. Inside these dungeons, you’ll have to solve puzzles and get through platforming sequences to reach other areas with more treasures. Considering the ambiance and what you’ll have to do to gather items, it may feel like you’re in a Tomb Raider game, controlling Lara Croft, or solving a mystery as Indiana Jones.
In addition to the environmental challenges imposed by the dungeons you’ll be thrust into, there are also other threats lurking about. In Treasure Hunters, you may encounter different types of creatures, like spiders and swarms of mice. However, there are also some ancient monsters. While they don’t resemble the hideous monsters in REPO, they will have a similar role of stalking you and trying to disrupt your treasure-hunting efforts.
Could Treasure Hunters Be A “Friendslop” Hit?
The Co-Op Treasure-Hunting Game Looks Fun
While you could very well play this new game on Steam alone, it does feel like one of those friendslop hits from last year and before – and it feels better to play it alongside friends. Co-op gameplay is at the forefront of Treasure Hunters, so collaborating with allies and trying to ensure everyone makes it out alive from the dungeon should be a big part of the fun.
Even though games of this type haven’t made big debuts this year, it does feel like Treasure Hunters has the potential to become the next big friendslop hit. The title has yet to prove itself, but its mix between Tomb Raider and REPO makes it a serious candidate for a Steam success this year.
