Uncharted 5’s Lead Character Leaves Gamers Torn

The Uncharted series really is one of the more iconic franchises in gaming, particularly considering it doesn’t have roots in the 80s and 90s as so many of the other big hitters do.

At the same time, the adventures of Nathan Drake really have put the character up there with the likes of Indiana Jones, a character he was so clearly designed to replicate in many ways.

That said, Drake’s narrative does feel like it has been told at this point, with the character retiring and settling down to live a quiet life with Elena. As such, any further sequels would likely have to draw its protagonist from elsewhere, and whether that’s someone we’ve seen before or someone entirely new, it’s all a potential possibility.

Who Would Star In Uncharted 5?

Over on Reddit, one fan of the series asked the community who they would like to see as the protagonist of the next Uncharted game. As well as calls for Drake’s daughter Cassie, who briefly appears in the epilogue of the last game, there were some other suggestions from players that really do sound interesting.

“Young Sully Spin-off would be really good. In Golden Abyss he talks about climbing pyramids and doing cool stuff when he was young. The 70s is also an interesting time frame. If that doesn’t work I’d honestly be satisfied with a Golden Abyss port or remake,” one comment read.

“I wouldn’t mind a game where you play as Sam. It could be contemporary and have flashbacks, so you could play through what Sam was doing all those years. Another Chloe game would be awesome too,” another added.

“Cassie as the protagonist and Sam as the Sully-type mentor role,” a third said.

A fourth wanted most of the OG cast to return, saying, “I liked the spin-off element and would like more, even if it were to be Chloe as the new face of the franchise, but to see Sam, Sully, Cutter and Nadine would be great! Cassie would feel more of a reboot to the franchise.”

Uncharted 5 Has Yet To Be Officially Confirmed

All of that fun speculation aside, Uncharted 5 is yet to even be confirmed as in production, so it will likely be years before we get to see it, if ever. If the franchise does fall by the wayside entirely, it will be a real shame, as one of the most iconic and consistent adventure series of all time is consigned to the history books.
