Rajasthan Royals are set to face Gujarat Titans in their upcoming IPL 2026 clash on Saturday at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans began their campaign with a three-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings. It was a complete middle-order batting collapse for GT, which restricted them to a chasable total of 162/6 in 20 overs. Although pacer Prasidh Krishna offered some hope with three quick wickets, Punjab Kings eventually clinched the victory as Cooper Connolly remained unbeaten on 72.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals kicked off their IPL 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion with a thumping eight-wicket win over five-time champions Chennai Super Kings. After bowling CSK out for just 127, RR chased down the target in a mere 12.1 overs, courtesy of a sensational knock from batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed 52 off just 17 balls.
Ahead of the match against GT, the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi, widely known for his explosive batting style, once again showcased his prowess during a practice session. In the nets, the Bihar-born batter faced England’s fiery pacer Jofra Archer and passed the test with flying colours.
In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on X (formerly Twitter), Sooryavanshi was seen playing several powerful shots off Archer’s express pace. While a few deliveries directed at his rib cage caused some discomfort, the youngster still managed to connect cleanly with multiple shots.

The video served as a strong warning to the Gujarat Titans bowlers, who have a difficult history against Sooryavanshi. For context, the teenager-who made his IPL debut in 2025-smashed the fastest IPL century by an Indian, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls, against GT.
This season, the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Kagiso Rabada will be eager to avenge last year’s humiliation and keep Sooryavanshi in check. Shubman Gill and his side will also be desperate to secure their first win of the season and get their campaign back on track.
