However, with such ambition behind it, Xbox users have one pressing question: how much will it cost?
How Much Will Xbox’s Helix Console Cost?
With both hardware and software costing more and more as the years go by, it is unsurprising that potential customers are worried over the price of the Project Helix console. At launch, the Xbox Series X came in at $499.99, so we can only expect that the next iteration of Xbox consoles will be even more thanks to increased tax and the ever-growing cost of hardware components. As such, Xbox users have taken to Reddit to discuss the expected price point, and many believe that this will definitely be the most expensive console yet.
After all, back in February, Microsoft revealed that it was unsure about the price of its upcoming hardware due to “global tariffs, component costs, geopolitics, and supply issues.” So what does that mean for us? Well, in a report and subsequent poll by Pure Xbox, it was revealed that 13% of people would be willing to pay over $1000 for the next Xbox, whilst 12% would only pay between $250–$500. With Project Helix expected to push the boundaries of performance, I would expect it to be more in the range of the former, rather than the latter.
Xbox Gamers Are Already Concerned
As already mentioned, potential customers over on Reddit have been discussing Project Helix’s potential price point, and much like the Pure Xbox poll, it seems as though opinions are mixed. After all, it really does depend on your relationship with Xbox. If you have been a hardcore fan since you were young, nostalgia will definitely help. However, if you play on various platforms, it would seem like quite a waste to fork out so much money. Nevertheless, the discourse is currently running wild.
“If the leaked specs are on point (Zen 6 CPU and 48GB of Ram/Vram), then there is no world where this is less than $1000,” one user shared. “If they can hit $1.5k it will be competitive as it is essentially on par with having a 5080 machine with 32GB of ram.” To which another user responded, “Then what’s the point? Consoles have always been an affordable way to get decent performance, but if the consoles are just the same cost as a PC, then is the ease of use worth it? I don’t think so.” For user len-nerd, Project Helix’s potential price point could also spell the same for Sony. “With current hardware part prices, I won’t be surprised if both Helix and PS6 Pro will be $999 at least.”
As mentioned, the cost of the next Xbox console has not yet been announced, but with it expected to be the most powerful console yet, there is no denying that it will come alongside an eye-watering sum. Whether you are willing to pay it, however, remains up to you.
