Yamaha Music India Private Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Japan’s Yamaha Corporation, that manufactures musical instruments and professional audio equipment has announced music icon AR Rahman as its brand ambassador.

The announcement was made at a press event here on Sunday, where the company’s India management also outlined Yamaha Music’s growth roadmap in India.

At the event, Rahman highlighted Yamaha’s role in his own musical journey and said the company’s products will be a part of his musical school in Chennai.

“Yamaha has always represented precision and reliability. I am proud to associate with them and this partnership is already benefiting young talents being nurtured at my own KM Music Conservatory and in the Sunshine Orchestra. If we continue to mentor young artists and strengthen music education, Indian musicians can lead on the global stage,” he added.

Speaking at the event, Yamamoto Taketoshi, Managing Director, Yamaha Music India, said that India is one of the most important markets Yamaha globally and the company has been seeing strong double digit growth here since it opened doors in India in 2008.

“We have steadily expanded our presence in the Indian market and are now ready to move into the next stage of our growth here. As part of our efforts to grow the brand and inspire the next generation of musical talent we are announcing a musical icon like AR Rahman as Brand Ambassador,” he said.

The company currently operates a manufacturing facility in Chennai along with its corporate office in Gurugram and an experience centre in Bengaluru.

Looking ahead, Yamaha Music India expects to sustain a growth trajectory of around 13 per cent CAGR through FY27 and FY28, Ryoji Maruyama, Sales Unit Head said.

He added that the company’s strategy going forward will be centred on increasing brand visibility while also strengthening its channel footprint across both physical retail and online commerce platforms. In parallel, the firm is also evaluating entry into new product categories, he said.
