Former India batter Yuvraj Singh heaped praise on rising star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The southpaw is only 15 years old, but he has already made a name for himself with some sensational piece of batting. Vaibhav rose to the limelight when Rajasthan Royals paid a whopping sum of Rs 1.1 crore for him at the auction ahead of IPL 2025. At that time, the left-handed batter was only 13. He made his IPL debut last year and kicked off his career with a six. In just his second IPL match, Sooryavanshi smashed a 35-ball hundred, becoming the fastest Indian batter to score a ton in the IPL. He also became the youngest centurion in the tournament’s history.
Speaking about Sooryavanshi on SportsTak, Yuvraj said, “Look at the current players coming up in T20 cricket. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is doing very well.”
The former India all-rounder went on to praise the bat speed of Sooryavanshi. “Vaibhav has amazing bat speed. His bat speed is better than mine. I have seen very few people with such bat speed,” he said.
Further pointing out the merits of Vaibhav’s batting, Yuvraj said that he is not one-dimensional and plays his shots all around the ground.
“I feel at a young age, he has got a lot of skills. Obviously, the more matches he plays, with failure and success, he will become a better batter,” said the ex-India all-rounder, who has won two World Cups with the senior men’s team.
As Vaibhav continues to impress with his game for India U19, Yuvraj is confident that he will do well for the senior men’s team as well.
“IPL has changed the dimension of Indian cricket a lot. These boys play directly in the IPL in front of big crowds, and they take the same fearlessness into international cricket. About Vaibhav, the majority of the people know he will play for India. There is no vacant spot in India’s T20I team at the moment. There is a lot of competition. I feel that sooner or later, he is going to play. When he plays is a question. When the selectors feel he is ready, they will give him a chance,” said Yuvraj.
