Like most promotions for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, this offer won’t be available forever. Over on the official Pokémon website, the company has shared information regarding the latest free Pokémon you can get through Mystery Gifts. In order to do this, though, you’ll need to have both the Switch and mobile version of Pokémon HOME downloaded.
Pokémon Fans Can Claim Three Free Starter ‘Mon Soon
Once Legends: Z-A compatibility comes to HOME, you’ll be able to transfer Pokémon between the two. There’s no concrete date of yet of when this will happen, but Pokémon is already announcing a big reward for those who do once the compatibility is live.
Starting this spring, if you transfer Pokémon from Legends: Z-A into Pokémon HOME, you’ll be able to get the following as Mystery Gifts in the Pokémon HOME app:
- Alpha Chikorita
- Alpha Tepig
- Alpha Totodile
That’s right: You can get Alpha versions of all three of Legends: Z-A‘s Starter Pokémon for free. This is a bit of an incentive for transferring Pokémon from the latest game. However, it appears you’ll only be able to get these Mystery Gifts on the mobile version of HOME, and only after you transfer Pokémon from Legends: Z-A onto the service (which you’ll need to do on your Switch 1 or Switch 2 console).
This Pokémon Freebie Won’t Be Around Forever
From there, however, you can transfer the Alpha Starters into Legends: Z-A, giving you the chance to explore Lumiose City with these powerful, bigger versions of the Starters. It’s not necessarily new Pokémon, the way Mystery Gifts for some Mythic and Legendary Pokémon have been recently, but it’s still a pretty nice giveaway.
Most Mystery Gifts come with a limited date range, so these free Alpha Starters may not be available forever. They’re definitely a reward to celebrate Pokémon HOME compatibility with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, so they may only be available during a limited window around that time. Right now, the official site doesn’t list an end date. However, if you want to err on the side of caution, you should go ahead and grab these free Pokémon as soon as they’re available this spring.
